Last Battle originally called Hokuto no Ken: Shin Seikimatsu kyseishu Densetsu in Japan is a martial arts side-scrolling beat ’em-up released for the Sega Genesis in 1989. The game follows The character Aarzak renamed from Kenshiro in The Japanese version who fights through a post-apocalyptic world using his martial arts skills. Players navigate linear side-scrolling levels and dungeon mazes fighting enemies and avoiding traps.

The game is broken up into four stages each featuring multiple levels and boss encounters. Aarzak has a power-up meter that enhances his combat skills when filled. Last Battle is known for its high difficulty level and repetitive gameplay which requires players to complete the game in one sitting due to the lack of a save feature.

the Last Battle received mixed reviews with criticism directed at the rigid controls and difficult difficulties. For the time, it was praised for its impressive graphics. Despite its shortcomings in gameplay mechanics The game’s legacy continues as a cult classic among fans of retro gaming and The Fist of The North Star series.
